In 3rd of August 2014 the Yazidi people of “Shingal” have been attacked by the Islamic State which also know as “DAISH”. The crimes they did against the Yazidi community were raised to the degree of Genocide. In result, around 1500 people were killed immediately, 6500 people from women, girls, male and female children were kidnapped, and around 450000 Yazidi people were displaced to KRG, Syria, and Turkish camps. Later, around 100000 from the displaced people became refugees in Europe, USA, and Australia.
After the process of Shingal liberation, tens of massive graves have been discovered. The percentage of destroyed infrastructure in the Yazidis villages counted to 80% including public buildings, schools, governmental authorities, houses, and about 36 holly temples for Yazidis.
After 4 years of Yazidian stay in the displaced camps, they suffered from winter cold and summer hot and still suffering. After, the entire world have being announced and they have heard from the Yazidi survived girls, that they have been used as sex slaves, traded for 50$ each and rapped more than once every day. After 4 years, more than 3000 Yazidi people are still in ISIS captivity.
Now, after all of that and after more than one year has been passed from the military process of Mosul liberation,it seems that there are many governmental campaigns aiming to perform the conciliation process in Shingal. But, as it introduced, declared, and confirmed internationally the stage after the military processes in such cases as the Yazidi case should be the transitional justice stage.
For the United Nations, transitional justice is the full range of processes and mechanisms associated with a society’s attempt to come to terms with a legacy of large-scale past abuses, in order to ensure accountability, serve justice and achieve reconciliation (www.un.org).
Therefore; in accordance to the United Nations the first stage after the military process is accountability, the second stage is the justice, and the last and final stage is reconciliation.
What I want to conclude in this article is that going directly to the stage of conciliation is another attempt of ignoring the rights of Yazidis people.
Conciliation without accountability and serving justice stages well lead the Yazidi people to feel more that they are losing their Iraqi citizenship rights and promote them to leave Iraq.
The loss of Yazidis will be the loss of the second religious minority after Jews. So, it will be a clear negative sign that Iraq is not the land of diversity and coexistence anymore
